Better
A shorter privacy page
The app privacy page is now short and plain: what stays on your phone, what is sent and why, who handles it, how long it is kept, and your choices.
28 Oct
Fixed
No made-up row from a cut-off screenshot
When a screenshot ends halfway through a transaction, the read now leaves that row out instead of adding a guessed row, so your totals stay right.
28 Oct
Better
Sharper category suggestions
The app suggests a category for more of your transactions, so fewer are left for you to file by hand. Suggestions still use only the cleaned-up description, never amounts or dates.
12 Oct
Better
The privacy page covers Android
The app privacy page now covers the Android app as well as the iPhone app. It says how Android reads statements on the phone, where it keeps the install id, and what Android backup leaves out.
10 Oct
Better
Clearer privacy and terms
The site has a support page. The privacy page and the terms now match what the iPhone app does.
10 Oct
New
A page for reaching Artos
The site has a support page with an email, Telegram, Discord, and X, plus short answers about what Artos reads and where your data lives.
10 Oct
Design
The home page shows how Artos works
The home page walks through a statement, the quieter features, and the promise that your money stays on your phone. The iPhone and Android buttons match. Screenshots of the app go in later.
10 Oct
Better
The app privacy page names ACRA open data
Company names the app uses come from ACRA open data, under the Singapore Open Data Licence. Artos is not endorsed by ACRA.
7 Oct
Better
The website is a short page about the app
The home page says what Artos is and links to the iPhone beta, the Android beta, the app privacy page, and the terms. The old web app is no longer there.
6 Oct
Better
You can add more than one way to reach you
On the You tab you can add a way to reach you, and more than one. That can be an email, Telegram, Discord, WhatsApp, X, LinkedIn, Reddit, or another platform. The app privacy page says so. Usage events can also carry the app build number and the language. They still never carry amounts, merchant names, or categories.
5 Oct
Better
The app privacy page covers category suggestions
The iOS app privacy page now says which statements are read on the phone, what a category suggestion sends to TypeSafe with most names removed, and that our server keeps none of it.
5 Oct
Fixed
From the next app version, a rupiah statement stays in rupiah
From the next app version, Artos reads which currency a statement is in. A rupiah statement comes back as rupiah at the amounts it prints, instead of as dollars at a hundred times the value.
5 Oct
Fixed
Screenshots without a year get the right year
When a bank screenshot shows only the day and month, Artos now picks the most recent date that is not in the future, so rows stop landing in an earlier year.
September 2026
24 Sep
Under the hood
The privacy page names phone versus simulator
Usage events can now say whether an install is a real phone or a simulator. Amounts and merchant names still never leave the phone.
21 Sep
Under the hood
The privacy page names what usage events carry
The app privacy page now lists the behavioural fields we store: screens, actions, times, the phone OS, the app version, and how an import went. Amounts and merchant names still never leave the phone.
20 Sep
New
Classroom slides at /slides
A short deck for in-person demos. Space or arrows move through the cards. It is public, with no sign-in.
20 Sep
Better
The same statement again does not get read twice
If you send a statement the phone has already uploaded, Artos reuses the earlier read instead of calling the model again.
20 Sep
Better
A guess is marked as a guess
When Artos is not sure about a category, the phone now sees that, so a confident look is reserved for the ones that earned it.
20 Sep
Better
Statements are categorised more accurately
A new Digital Services category covers apps and software. Common merchants now file instantly and consistently.
18 Sep
Design
The web app follows the same sky as the phone
Signed-in pages, login, and the rest of the web app now use the hour sky and the same type as the iPhone app. You can pin morning, afternoon, or evening, and light or dark, under You.
18 Sep
Fixed
Wallet screenshots keep their dates, and receipt photos fill the lines
Transaction lists that only show the day and month, or that colour money in green and money out black, now come through with a date and the right direction. A clear shop receipt fills the item lines instead of coming back empty.
17 Sep
Under the hood
The add to home screen banner is gone
Signed-in pages no longer ask you to add Artos to your home screen. The iPhone and Android apps are the way in.
17 Sep
New
The apps come first, the web app is still here
Choosing to use Artos now offers the iPhone and Android apps first, because those are the finished ones. If you would rather not install anything, the web app is one tap further on, exactly as it was.
17 Sep
Better
The landing page shows two real recordings of the app
You can switch between Auto-budget and Import a statement. The second clip is not downloaded until you pick it.
17 Sep
Design
A new look for the site
The landing page has been rebuilt: a picture of the sky at the hour you visit, one typeface, and two recordings of the real app instead of a drawn mock of it.
August 2026
26 Aug
Better
You can set up from statements again
If you already have a budget, the Budgets page now has a way back into setup from statements. It warns first, because it permanently deletes your transactions and budgets. Accounts, categories, and your login stay. If there is nothing to delete, it skips the warning and starts the flow.
10 Aug
Fixed
Guided budget setup is clearer after you finish, and review is less of a dead end
Finishing guided setup no longer drops you on the first-run onboarding pitch. Overview knows when you already have a budget or older months of data, so a quiet current month does not look empty. On review you can see how close you are to Continue, or leave the rest Uncategorized and move on. Lost statement uploads after a restart say so and can be removed. Guided upload also says files are processed in memory and never stored.
9 Aug
Better
Sign up with email only, and guided uploads keep your other months
Creating an account now asks for email and password; your display name starts as the part before the @ and you can change it under You next to password. Email can be changed there too with your current password. On guided budget setup, switching bank clears the file you picked, you can cancel a statement, you only get one file per bank per month, and uploading May no longer wipes the files you already chose for June and July.
8 Aug
New
Set a budget from statements you already have
You no longer have to wait three months for Artos to draft a budget. From the auto-budget meter you can start a guided setup, upload a few recent statements, clear the unclear merchants largest first, pick how much you want to save, and tune each category with a slider. Budget suggestions also round to steps that scale with the size of each category, so the same idea works for dollars and for rupiah without pretending they convert.
4 Aug
Fixed
The money-left figure was quietly leaving spending out
The big number on the Budgets page said "Money left this month", and the same figure appeared on Overview and in the weekly recap. It only ever counted the categories you had set a limit on. Budget Food at 300, spend 120 there and 800 on shopping you never budgeted, and Artos told you 180 was left while the month was 620 down. All three screens now say "Left in budgeted categories", and when there is spending outside your budgets they name the amount right underneath, so the figure can never read as your whole month. A budget that has reached 80 percent of its limit now says so before it goes over, in bold rather than red, because red still means over. And a limit you type is now stored exactly as you typed it: 10.999 used to become 11.00 without a word, and a limit of 999,999,999 was accepted and then skewed every total on the page. Both are refused now, in whichever currency you use.
4 Aug
Fixed
Artos feels less like a website on your phone
Two things gave the game away. Adding an account made your password manager pop up, as if Artos were asking you to log in again, which was confusing on a page about bank accounts. That field no longer looks like a login box to your phone. And if you added Artos to your home screen, the page could be pinched and zoomed out of shape the way a real app never does, so it now stays put. Open Artos in a normal browser tab or on a computer and zoom still works exactly as before.
4 Aug
Fixed
The You page now matches the rest of the app
Two small things went missing on the You page because it was built a little differently from every other page. If you had dismissed the tip about adding Artos to your home screen, it could reappear there. And the demo, which says on every screen that it is read-only, forgot to say so on that one. Both are sorted.
3 Aug
Under the hood
Keeping a closer eye on how Artos is doing
Nothing changes in how Artos works for you. Behind the scenes it now checks its own health, tells the founder the moment something breaks or feedback arrives, and keeps better notes on which parts of the app people actually use, so problems get noticed and fixed sooner.
2 Aug
Fixed
Long statements no longer give up halfway
A statement with a lot of rows could take longer to read than Artos was willing to wait, so it gave up and told you it could not read the file even though the reading had actually worked. Artos now waits long enough for a full month of transactions, and if something does go wrong it tells you what went wrong instead of just saying it failed. The waiting message is honest about it too: a long statement takes about a minute.
July 2026
31 Jul
Better
The privacy page now covers screen recordings
For the four weeks of the pilot, Artos records what happens on screen once you are signed in, so the parts that trip people up can actually be found. Everything financial is blanked out in your browser before anything is sent: amounts, merchant names, category names and anything you type never reach the recording. Only the founder watches them, and they stop the day Artos opens to the public. Because they sit with the recording tool rather than inside Artos, deleting your account does not reach them, so email if you want yours gone sooner. The privacy page has a new section saying all of that plainly.
29 Jul
Better
The privacy page now covers usage and cost
Artos notes the day you open it, and every statement you upload now records what the AI call cost to read it. Both are tied to your account. Neither holds anything from inside your statements, no amounts and no merchant or category names. The privacy page has a new section explaining what is recorded and why, and it says plainly that deleting your account clears these records along with the rest.
25 Jul
New
A way out of a wrong upload
Uploaded the wrong screenshot? There is now a Cancel button beside Save on the review screen. It throws the staged upload away and takes you straight back to the upload page for the right file. Nothing is saved until you press Save, same as before.
25 Jul
Fixed
Dark mode stopped glowing in the budget form
The category picker and the limit field on the Budgets page were still rendered by the browser in its light style, so in dark mode they sat there as bright white boxes with barely readable placeholder text. Every field and dropdown now uses the same quiet surface as the rest of the app in both themes, and the built-in bits the browser still owns, like the number spinners and the picker wheel, follow your theme too.
25 Jul
Design
The moments that matter now feel like moments
Five places in the app used to just blink into their finished state. They now arrive. When we finish reading your statement, the rows print in one after another instead of replacing the loading bars in a single frame. After an import, your balance and the undo bar settle in. Confirm a budget and the list prints while each bar fills from empty. Mark a debt paid and the row fades out rather than vanishing under your finger. And the first time you see a spending chart in a session, the line draws itself. Each one happens once and then stops, so nothing you do twice in a row makes you wait twice. If you have reduced motion turned on, every screen goes straight to its finished state, exactly as before.
25 Jul
Design
Moving between screens
Pages used to snap from one to the next. They now cross over softly instead. Tap a transaction and its name and amount travel with you into the detail screen rather than being redrawn there, and on the dashboard the auto budget meter opens out into the full proposal. More of the app answers a press too: rows and cards darken while your finger is down, whether or not anything else is moving. If you have reduced motion turned on, or your browser does not do this yet, pages arrive the way they always have.
25 Jul
Design
The homepage keeps up with your scroll
Sections on the homepage used to hold off until they were well inside the screen before fading in, so scrolling quickly on a phone ran you into blank space. They now start just before they reach the edge, and settle faster once they do. The numbers and charts inside each section still wait until you can actually see them count.
25 Jul
Design
The first few screens move now
Setting up used to appear all at once. Now each screen writes itself in: the headline wipes across, a line draws under the promise, and the two choice cards answer your finger when you press them. On the dashboard, the auto budget meter draws its own progress and the counts roll up to the real numbers instead of just sitting there. If you have reduced motion turned on, or JavaScript off, every screen still renders finished with nothing moving.
25 Jul
New
A page that lists what changed
This page. Everything Artos has shipped since the first version in March 2026, newest first and grouped by month, open to anyone without signing in. Reach it from your profile or from the bottom of the homepage.
23 Jul
New
Artos drafts your budget for you
You are no longer asked to guess a budget on day one. Track normally, and once you have three months with at least twenty transactions across four categories, the dashboard offers a draft built from what you actually spend, rounded up to the nearest ten dollars per category. Accept it in one tap or ignore it. Imported history counts straight away, so a backfill can open this on your first day.
23 Jul
Better
A shorter first run
Signing up used to open with two questions before you saw anything. Now it is one screen explaining what Artos does, then a single choice: import statements you already have, snap what you just spent, or skip. And if you have not made an account yet, you name it right there on the upload screen instead of hitting a dead end.
22 Jul
Fixed
Recent activity in the right order
The dashboard was listing your latest six transactions by when they were uploaded rather than when you spent the money, so a backfill would push real recent spending out of view. Sorted by date now.
9 Jul
Design
A new look, top to bottom
The whole app moved to a calmer, more editorial layout. Bigger type where it matters, quieter chrome, more room to breathe on a phone. The colours did not change: red is money out, green is money in, and nothing else gets to shout.
9 Jul
New
A homepage that shows the work
The landing page now animates a raw bank statement resolving into categorised rows, states the real speeds (roughly 6 seconds for a phone screenshot, under 30 for a full monthly PDF), and previews the actual screens. If you have reduced motion turned on, or JavaScript off, everything renders in its finished state.
9 Jul
Fixed
Two small ones
Receipts that already include GST in the item prices were having it added again when splitting by item, so each person's share came out high. And the date field on the add and edit screens spilled outside its card on iPhone.
4 Jul
New
A nudge when your data goes stale
If your newest transaction is more than a week old, the dashboard says so and points you at the upload screen. One calm line, not a nag.
4 Jul
Better
Honest import warnings, and a feedback box that remembers
Choosing Replace on an import now tells you plainly that it deletes the transactions already sitting in that period and that Undo will not bring them back. And if the feedback form fails to send, your text stays in the box instead of vanishing.
4 Jul
Fixed
Budgets ignore one-off charges
Marking a transaction unusual already kept it out of your dashboard and your trends. Budgets were still counting it, so a flight could blow through a limit it should never have touched. They match now.
4 Jul
Under the hood
Groundwork for the phone app
Added a small private API that the upcoming native app will use for reading statements, sending usage counts, and checking it is talking to a live server. Nothing about the web app changed.
3 Jul
New
Move money between your own accounts
Mark a transaction as a transfer, point it at the other account, and link it to the matching row on the far side. Your balances still move, but a transfer never counts as spending or income, so budgets and trends stop reading your own savings top-up as a shopping spree.
3 Jul
Better
Exports you can hand to a chatbot
The Markdown export now carries a written summary: spent, money in, savings rate, a table per category, subscriptions, one-offs, transfers, and budget against actual, plus a prompt you can paste straight into an AI. The CSV gained Recurring, Unusual, and Transfer columns.
3 Jul
Fixed
Amounts over a thousand dollars are safe
A bad one. Any amount of $1,000 or more could be dropped or mangled on save, because the pretty display format (1,234.56) was being handed back to a parser that choked on the comma. Salary, rent, tuition, opening balances. Fixed everywhere money is typed or resubmitted, and the tests now use four-figure amounts on every path so it cannot come back quietly.
2 Jul
New
Reimbursements and refunds
When a friend pays you back or a shop refunds you, that money is not income. Tag the credit as a reimbursement and point it at the original expense: it lowers what you spent in that category and month instead of inflating what you earned. One payment can cover several originals, and anything left over above the original cost still counts as income. Past months quietly recalculate and say so.
1 Jul
Fixed
Signing in was broken for some people
A security header added the week before made some browsers send a blank origin on ordinary form submits, which the cross-site check refused. That could break sign-in and any other form action. Caught and fixed the same day.
June 2026
30 Jun
New
The pilot opened
Artos went out to its first group of testers at SMU, after a pass over every screen for security, wording and accessibility. Until then it had only ever been tried on one person's own bank statements.
30 Jun
New
Teach Artos where a merchant belongs
Make a rule like "anything containing AH NAM is Food" and every future import follows it. Rules beat the AI and skip the AI call altogether, so they are quicker too. When you create one, Artos offers to fix the past transactions that match.
30 Jun
Better
Add a transaction by hand from the upload screen
Manual entry used to be hidden away. The upload page now has an "Add manually" toggle, and ticking "this is a split bill" drops you straight into the split editor. It works even before you have added an account.
30 Jun
Better
A quieter dashboard
The two stat grids became one. Added a smallest-spend line and a plain "left to spend this month" figure, and moved the month-over-month comparison to the trends page, where a half-finished month cannot skew it.
30 Jun
Better
Clearer words, and commas in your money
Money reads 12,500.00 instead of 12500.00. "Debit" and "Credit" became "Money out" and "Money in". The saved list is called Transactions everywhere it appears. The bottom bar stopped highlighting Overview on pages that are not the dashboard.
30 Jun
Better
Small motion, better contrast
Buttons, chips and tabs press in slightly when tapped, the grey flash on mobile taps is gone, and sheets fade rather than snap. All of it switches off if your phone is set to reduce motion. A few labels that were too faint to read got their contrast raised.
29 Jun
New
Delete your account, properly
Your profile now has two clearly separate options. Clear your transactions to start fresh, keeping your accounts and budgets. Or delete the account outright, which asks for your password and removes everything stored about you, your login included. The privacy page was rewritten to describe both honestly.
29 Jun
New
Change your password
In your profile, under Security. Overdue.
29 Jun
Better
Why a transaction needs a look
A flagged row now tells you what is actually wrong: an unreadable date, a missing amount, no confident category. You can mark it reviewed by swiping it or from its detail page, and dates use your phone's own date picker instead of a text box.
29 Jun
Fixed
Extraction cannot hang forever
Reading a statement now gives up after 45 seconds and categorising after 15, failing that one file cleanly instead of leaving the whole batch spinning. Anything that does go wrong gets a plain page rather than a wall of code.
29 Jun
Under the hood
The pass before opening the doors
The security work done before Artos went public: proper security headers, a hard cap on how often the AI routes can be called, protection against tampered-with links, escaping for anything you type that gets shown back to you, a limit on files per import, and nine dependency advisories cleared to zero.
28 Jun
New
Delete a single transaction
Swipe a row on the transactions list to reveal Delete, or use the button on its detail page. Deleting a split bill clears that debt from everyone's "I owe" view. There is no undo, so the swipe and the tap are deliberately two steps.
25 Jun
New
Six months of trends
A new statistics page, reached from the dashboard donut. Spending, income or net across six months with a toggle, your average monthly spend, whether this month is running ahead of that average, your highest month, and a small chart per category with the change on last month.
25 Jun
Fixed
PDF statements read correctly now
Some bank PDFs put money out and money in as two columns. The old text-based read flattened them into bare numbers, so incoming money was being logged as spending. Statements are now read page by page as images, which keeps the columns intact. On the statements we tested, reconciliation gaps of a couple of thousand dollars dropped to nothing.
25 Jun
Better
Import, rebuilt
Bulk import now anchors your balance on the statement's own opening balance, treats the statement as the truth for months you already had rows in, shows you a full preview before anything is written, warns you when a statement does not add up, and lets you undo the lot. The dashboard says which date an imported balance is accurate as of.
25 Jun
Better
Duplicate detection that holds up
Re-uploading the same statement used to let rows slip through whenever the AI read a description slightly differently. Matching now uses the date, the amount and the direction, which do not wobble. Each flagged row gets a Keep button so you can bring one in anyway.
25 Jun
Better
Setup got shorter
Creating an account asks for a name and nothing else. Starting an import asks for the account and nothing else. Your start date and opening balance come from the statement you import, because the numbers you used to type in were being thrown away anyway.
22 Jun
New
Import months of history in one go
Point Artos at a stack of statements, images, PDFs or CSVs, and it reads them into one session. Rows are categorised for you, and anything it is unsure about is flagged rather than blocking you. Your balance is worked backwards from what you tell it, so the dashboard matches your bank app.
22 Jun
Better
Accessibility pass
Visible focus rings on everything you can reach with a keyboard, proper labels on the forms, and a contrast sweep across both light and dark.
21 Jun
New
Split a bill by receipt
Photograph the receipt on a transaction, let Artos pull out the line items, tick who shared what, and it works out each person's total with the service charge and GST divided fairly by item rather than by head. Every cent reconciles to the amount you were charged before it saves.
21 Jun
New
Splits between Artos users
Add a friend with @theirusername and the debt lands on their side too. They get an "I owe" tab and a note on their dashboard, either of you can mark it paid and it clears for both instantly, and they can dispute a charge they do not recognise.
21 Jun
New
Split a bill with anyone
Mark a transaction as split, add up to fifteen people by name, and either type each share or divide it evenly. Only your own share counts toward your spending and your budgets. The rest waits in "Owed to me" until you mark it paid.
21 Jun
New
A demo you can poke at
Anyone can tap "Try the demo" on the homepage and land on a full dashboard with a month of realistic Singapore transactions. Everything is browsable, nothing can be changed.
21 Jun
New
Weekly recap
One screen comparing your last seven days with the seven before: total spent, top category, biggest single transaction, and where your budgets stand. No email, you go and look when you want to.
21 Jun
New
Flag what repeats
Mark a transaction as recurring and it appears on a Recurring list with a combined monthly total. Nothing is guessed automatically, you decide what counts.
21 Jun
New
Two lines that tell you something
Under your balance: the category you spent most on this month, and how this month compares with last, with the direction and the percentage.
21 Jun
New
Filter your transactions
Search, category, account, money in or out, month, and needs-review, all on the transactions page.
20 Jun
Under the hood
Faster pages
Cut the number of database trips on the dashboard and on save, shrank photos in the browser before uploading them, and read several files at once. Extracted rows now show up first and fill in their categories a moment later, instead of making you wait for both.
17 Jun
New
Export to CSV or Markdown
From the dashboard, for the month you are looking at or for everything you have. The Markdown version is written to be pasted into a chatbot if you want a second opinion on your spending.
16 Jun
New
Privacy, in plain words
A page that spells out exactly what is kept and what is not, written against Singapore's PDPA. Your statement files are read in memory and released the moment extraction finishes, so there is nothing on a disk to delete. Long runs of digits are masked before anything is saved, so a card number cannot end up sitting in a description. There is also a one-tap way to wipe your data.
16 Jun
New
Send feedback from anywhere
A speech-bubble button in the header on every screen. One field, nothing to fill in, it goes straight to the person building this.
14 Jun
Better
Uploads stopped blocking
Uploading used to sit on a spinner while every file was read. The review screen now appears straight away with placeholder rows and fills itself in as each file finishes. Categorising happens in the background rather than behind a button you had to remember to press.
14 Jun
Under the hood
Lighter and quicker to load
Pages are compressed, fonts come from Artos rather than Google, and static files cache for a year with a version stamp so a new release never leaves you on old code. Scored 100 on Google's mobile performance check at the time.
13 Jun
New
Budgets per category
Set a monthly limit on any expense category. The dashboard and the budgets page show a progress bar and how much is left, and the bar turns red once you go past the limit.
13 Jun
New
Install Artos on your home screen
Artos is installable, and on iPhone it shows you how. Once installed it opens without browser chrome, and you stay signed in for thirty days instead of being logged out every few days.
13 Jun
Under the hood
Exact money, real dates
Every amount moved to whole cents rather than decimals, and every date to a real date rather than text. That is the only way the sums stay exact once thousands of rows are involved. Error monitoring was added at the same time, set up so it never receives your transactions, your files, or any account number.
