Everything Artos has shipped since the first version in March 2026, newest first. Each date is the day the change went live, not the day it was written.
Two small things went missing on the You page because it was built a little differently from every other page. If you had dismissed the tip about adding Artos to your home screen, it could reappear there. And the demo, which says on every screen that it is read-only, forgot to say so on that one. Both are sorted.
Nothing changes in how Artos works for you. Behind the scenes it now checks its own health, tells the founder the moment something breaks or feedback arrives, and keeps better notes on which parts of the app people actually use, so problems get noticed and fixed sooner.
A statement with a lot of rows could take longer to read than Artos was willing to wait, so it gave up and told you it could not read the file even though the reading had actually worked. Artos now waits long enough for a full month of transactions, and if something does go wrong it tells you what went wrong instead of just saying it failed. The waiting message is honest about it too: a long statement takes about a minute.
For the four weeks of the pilot, Artos records what happens on screen once you are signed in, so the parts that trip people up can actually be found. Everything financial is blanked out in your browser before anything is sent: amounts, merchant names, category names and anything you type never reach the recording. Only the founder watches them, and they stop the day Artos opens to the public. Because they sit with the recording tool rather than inside Artos, deleting your account does not reach them, so email if you want yours gone sooner. The privacy page has a new section saying all of that plainly.
Artos notes the day you open it, and every statement you upload now records what the AI call cost to read it. Both are tied to your account. Neither holds anything from inside your statements, no amounts and no merchant or category names. The privacy page has a new section explaining what is recorded and why, and it says plainly that deleting your account clears these records along with the rest.
Uploaded the wrong screenshot? There is now a Cancel button beside Save on the review screen. It throws the staged upload away and takes you straight back to the upload page for the right file. Nothing is saved until you press Save, same as before.
The category picker and the limit field on the Budgets page were still rendered by the browser in its light style, so in dark mode they sat there as bright white boxes with barely readable placeholder text. Every field and dropdown now uses the same quiet surface as the rest of the app in both themes, and the built-in bits the browser still owns, like the number spinners and the picker wheel, follow your theme too.
Five places in the app used to just blink into their finished state. They now arrive. When we finish reading your statement, the rows print in one after another instead of replacing the loading bars in a single frame. After an import, your balance and the undo bar settle in. Confirm a budget and the list prints while each bar fills from empty. Mark a debt paid and the row fades out rather than vanishing under your finger. And the first time you see a spending chart in a session, the line draws itself. Each one happens once and then stops, so nothing you do twice in a row makes you wait twice. If you have reduced motion turned on, every screen goes straight to its finished state, exactly as before.
Pages used to snap from one to the next. They now cross over softly instead. Tap a transaction and its name and amount travel with you into the detail screen rather than being redrawn there, and on the dashboard the auto budget meter opens out into the full proposal. More of the app answers a press too: rows and cards darken while your finger is down, whether or not anything else is moving. If you have reduced motion turned on, or your browser does not do this yet, pages arrive the way they always have.
Sections on the homepage used to hold off until they were well inside the screen before fading in, so scrolling quickly on a phone ran you into blank space. They now start just before they reach the edge, and settle faster once they do. The numbers and charts inside each section still wait until you can actually see them count.
Setting up used to appear all at once. Now each screen writes itself in: the headline wipes across, a line draws under the promise, and the two choice cards answer your finger when you press them. On the dashboard, the auto budget meter draws its own progress and the counts roll up to the real numbers instead of just sitting there. If you have reduced motion turned on, or JavaScript off, every screen still renders finished with nothing moving.

You are no longer asked to guess a budget on day one. Track normally, and once you have three months with at least twenty transactions across four categories, the dashboard offers a draft built from what you actually spend, rounded up to the nearest ten dollars per category. Accept it in one tap or ignore it. Imported history counts straight away, so a backfill can open this on your first day.
Signing up used to open with two questions before you saw anything. Now it is one screen explaining what Artos does, then a single choice: import statements you already have, snap what you just spent, or skip. And if you have not made an account yet, you name it right there on the upload screen instead of hitting a dead end.
The dashboard was listing your latest six transactions by when they were uploaded rather than when you spent the money, so a backfill would push real recent spending out of view. Sorted by date now.
The whole app moved to a calmer, more editorial layout. Bigger type where it matters, quieter chrome, more room to breathe on a phone. The colours did not change: red is money out, green is money in, and nothing else gets to shout.
The landing page now animates a raw bank statement resolving into categorised rows, states the real speeds (roughly 6 seconds for a phone screenshot, under 30 for a full monthly PDF), and previews the actual screens. If you have reduced motion turned on, or JavaScript off, everything renders in its finished state.
Receipts that already include GST in the item prices were having it added again when splitting by item, so each person's share came out high. And the date field on the add and edit screens spilled outside its card on iPhone.
If your newest transaction is more than a week old, the dashboard says so and points you at the upload screen. One calm line, not a nag.
Choosing Replace on an import now tells you plainly that it deletes the transactions already sitting in that period and that Undo will not bring them back. And if the feedback form fails to send, your text stays in the box instead of vanishing.
Marking a transaction unusual already kept it out of your dashboard and your trends. Budgets were still counting it, so a flight could blow through a limit it should never have touched. They match now.
Added a small private API that the upcoming native app will use for reading statements, sending usage counts, and checking it is talking to a live server. Nothing about the web app changed.
Mark a transaction as a transfer, point it at the other account, and link it to the matching row on the far side. Your balances still move, but a transfer never counts as spending or income, so budgets and trends stop reading your own savings top-up as a shopping spree.
The Markdown export now carries a written summary: spent, money in, savings rate, a table per category, subscriptions, one-offs, transfers, and budget against actual, plus a prompt you can paste straight into an AI. The CSV gained Recurring, Unusual, and Transfer columns.
A bad one. Any amount of $1,000 or more could be dropped or mangled on save, because the pretty display format (1,234.56) was being handed back to a parser that choked on the comma. Salary, rent, tuition, opening balances. Fixed everywhere money is typed or resubmitted, and the tests now use four-figure amounts on every path so it cannot come back quietly.
When a friend pays you back or a shop refunds you, that money is not income. Tag the credit as a reimbursement and point it at the original expense: it lowers what you spent in that category and month instead of inflating what you earned. One payment can cover several originals, and anything left over above the original cost still counts as income. Past months quietly recalculate and say so.
A security header added the week before made some browsers send a blank origin on ordinary form submits, which the cross-site check refused. That could break sign-in and any other form action. Caught and fixed the same day.
Artos went out to its first group of testers at SMU, after a pass over every screen for security, wording and accessibility. Until then it had only ever been tried on one person's own bank statements.
Make a rule like "anything containing AH NAM is Food" and every future import follows it. Rules beat the AI and skip the AI call altogether, so they are quicker too. When you create one, Artos offers to fix the past transactions that match.
Manual entry used to be hidden away. The upload page now has an "Add manually" toggle, and ticking "this is a split bill" drops you straight into the split editor. It works even before you have added an account.
The two stat grids became one. Added a smallest-spend line and a plain "left to spend this month" figure, and moved the month-over-month comparison to the trends page, where a half-finished month cannot skew it.
Money reads 12,500.00 instead of 12500.00. "Debit" and "Credit" became "Money out" and "Money in". The saved list is called Transactions everywhere it appears. The bottom bar stopped highlighting Overview on pages that are not the dashboard.
Buttons, chips and tabs press in slightly when tapped, the grey flash on mobile taps is gone, and sheets fade rather than snap. All of it switches off if your phone is set to reduce motion. A few labels that were too faint to read got their contrast raised.
Your profile now has two clearly separate options. Clear your transactions to start fresh, keeping your accounts and budgets. Or delete the account outright, which asks for your password and removes everything stored about you, your login included. The privacy page was rewritten to describe both honestly.

A flagged row now tells you what is actually wrong: an unreadable date, a missing amount, no confident category. You can mark it reviewed by swiping it or from its detail page, and dates use your phone's own date picker instead of a text box.
Reading a statement now gives up after 45 seconds and categorising after 15, failing that one file cleanly instead of leaving the whole batch spinning. Anything that does go wrong gets a plain page rather than a wall of code.
The security work done before Artos went public: proper security headers, a hard cap on how often the AI routes can be called, protection against tampered-with links, escaping for anything you type that gets shown back to you, a limit on files per import, and nine dependency advisories cleared to zero.
Swipe a row on the transactions list to reveal Delete, or use the button on its detail page. Deleting a split bill clears that debt from everyone's "I owe" view. There is no undo, so the swipe and the tap are deliberately two steps.
A new statistics page, reached from the dashboard donut. Spending, income or net across six months with a toggle, your average monthly spend, whether this month is running ahead of that average, your highest month, and a small chart per category with the change on last month.
Some bank PDFs put money out and money in as two columns. The old text-based read flattened them into bare numbers, so incoming money was being logged as spending. Statements are now read page by page as images, which keeps the columns intact. On the statements we tested, reconciliation gaps of a couple of thousand dollars dropped to nothing.
Bulk import now anchors your balance on the statement's own opening balance, treats the statement as the truth for months you already had rows in, shows you a full preview before anything is written, warns you when a statement does not add up, and lets you undo the lot. The dashboard says which date an imported balance is accurate as of.
Re-uploading the same statement used to let rows slip through whenever the AI read a description slightly differently. Matching now uses the date, the amount and the direction, which do not wobble. Each flagged row gets a Keep button so you can bring one in anyway.
Creating an account asks for a name and nothing else. Starting an import asks for the account and nothing else. Your start date and opening balance come from the statement you import, because the numbers you used to type in were being thrown away anyway.
Point Artos at a stack of statements, images, PDFs or CSVs, and it reads them into one session. Rows are categorised for you, and anything it is unsure about is flagged rather than blocking you. Your balance is worked backwards from what you tell it, so the dashboard matches your bank app.
Visible focus rings on everything you can reach with a keyboard, proper labels on the forms, and a contrast sweep across both light and dark.
Photograph the receipt on a transaction, let Artos pull out the line items, tick who shared what, and it works out each person's total with the service charge and GST divided fairly by item rather than by head. Every cent reconciles to the amount you were charged before it saves.
Add a friend with @theirusername and the debt lands on their side too. They get an "I owe" tab and a note on their dashboard, either of you can mark it paid and it clears for both instantly, and they can dispute a charge they do not recognise.
Mark a transaction as split, add up to fifteen people by name, and either type each share or divide it evenly. Only your own share counts toward your spending and your budgets. The rest waits in "Owed to me" until you mark it paid.
Anyone can tap "Try the demo" on the homepage and land on a full dashboard with a month of realistic Singapore transactions. Everything is browsable, nothing can be changed.
One screen comparing your last seven days with the seven before: total spent, top category, biggest single transaction, and where your budgets stand. No email, you go and look when you want to.
Mark a transaction as recurring and it appears on a Recurring list with a combined monthly total. Nothing is guessed automatically, you decide what counts.
Under your balance: the category you spent most on this month, and how this month compares with last, with the direction and the percentage.

Cut the number of database trips on the dashboard and on save, shrank photos in the browser before uploading them, and read several files at once. Extracted rows now show up first and fill in their categories a moment later, instead of making you wait for both.
From the dashboard, for the month you are looking at or for everything you have. The Markdown version is written to be pasted into a chatbot if you want a second opinion on your spending.
A page that spells out exactly what is kept and what is not, written against Singapore's PDPA. Your statement files are read in memory and released the moment extraction finishes, so there is nothing on a disk to delete. Long runs of digits are masked before anything is saved, so a card number cannot end up sitting in a description. There is also a one-tap way to wipe your data.
A speech-bubble button in the header on every screen. One field, nothing to fill in, it goes straight to the person building this.
Uploading used to sit on a spinner while every file was read. The review screen now appears straight away with placeholder rows and fills itself in as each file finishes. Categorising happens in the background rather than behind a button you had to remember to press.
Pages are compressed, fonts come from Artos rather than Google, and static files cache for a year with a version stamp so a new release never leaves you on old code. Scored 100 on Google's mobile performance check at the time.
Set a monthly limit on any expense category. The dashboard and the budgets page show a progress bar and how much is left, and the bar turns red once you go past the limit.
Artos is installable, and on iPhone it shows you how. Once installed it opens without browser chrome, and you stay signed in for thirty days instead of being logged out every few days.
Every amount moved to whole cents rather than decimals, and every date to a real date rather than text. That is the only way the sums stay exact once thousands of rows are involved. Error monitoring was added at the same time, set up so it never receives your transactions, your files, or any account number.
Transactions marked unusual are left out of your totals by default, so one flight does not wreck the picture. A toggle beside the banner puts them back in for when you want the numbers to line up with your actual balance.
The prototype look was replaced with the monochrome, serif-and-sans system Artos still uses today, dark mode included. New bottom navigation, a proper transactions list grouped by date, a screen for unusual spending, and a profile page. Categories became real records you own rather than a list buried in settings.
Logging in on artos.cash bounced you straight back to the sign-in page, because the session cookie was never actually being set behind the host's proxy.
Artos got real sign-up and sign-in with hashed passwords and proper sessions, and every record is now tied to your account and nobody else's. Duplicate detection on save arrived at the same time, along with search and a category filter on the dashboard.
Money out picks from expense categories and money in picks from income ones, no more mixing the two. Auto-categorise arrived as a button you pressed after an upload, along with manual entry and editable descriptions.

Add your bank accounts and see a running balance for each. PDF statements work alongside screenshots, up to ten files in a single upload. Anything the AI could not read cleanly gets flagged so you can fix it rather than silently losing it.
A spending pie chart by category, average daily spend, savings rate and top category. Anything that would distort the picture can be marked unusual and drops out of every chart and every stat.
Add your own categories, and hide the default ones you are never going to use.
